1954 Canadian Motorcycle Association News – T.T. Special

Cover:

“All racing riders must know that heartbreaking “will it start?” feeling depicted on our cover this month. All spectators will know the suspense of waiting for the first sound from the motor, and will share the agony of a rider left pushing in the solitude left by the forunate starters. In the background of our picture, you will see the famous Isle of Man scoreboard, which is kept up to the moment by a group of Boy Scouts, who place cards on the board, showing the position of every rider.

Number 100 is Ron Hazelhurst (who is at present living in Toronto) pushing his factory 350 Velocette in the 1949 Junior International. In this race he ran out of fuel and was coasting towards the finish. As he began to slow a little on the upward slope of Cronk-ny-Mona, he felt sure he could push faster than he was travelling. He stylishly stood up on the rest, swung his leg over and promptly fell flat on his face. The terrific speed of seven laps had made 30 mph a mere crawling speed to him! However he finished high enough in the results to merit a bronze replica. Number 101 is Albert Moule, of Belgium on a 350 Norton.”

On the back Cover there is a nice, vintage Goodyear Motorcycle Tire Ad for the Grasshopper and Super Eagle Rib motorcycle tires.

Collecting, Restoring and Riding Classic Motorcycles -Tim Holmes & Rebekka Smith available at www.DadsVintageAds.com in the “Motorcycle Gifts & Collectibles” category

From the dustjacket:

This thorough introduction to the booming world of collectable motorcycles surveys the classic scene and its roots, advises on how to buy, what it will cost, and how to set about restoring a classic machine, and lists the requirements for getting it on the road. Appropriate veteran, vintage, post-vintage, and post-war models are all examined, followed by a selection of the more popular European, Japanese and American bikes. Rallies, runs, road-racing, trials and scrambles are all discussed, for those owners wishing to use their classic motorcycles. Invaluable appendices and a wealth of photographs help to make this a book for all true two-wheel enthusiasts. Tim Holmes is assistant editor of The Classic Motorcycle and co-editor, with his co-author Rebekka Smith, of Classic Mechanics.

1944 1st Edition – Floyd Clymer’s Historical Motor Scrapbook – Rare – Early Cars and Motorcycles Illustrated

1944 1st Edition – Floyd Clymer’s Historical Motor Scrapbook – Rare available at www.DadsVintageAds.com in the “Motorcycle Gifts & Collectibles” category

My Scrapbook by Floyd Clymer

This scrap book of motorcycles and automobiles is dedicated to those who in the early days of the industry pioneered new ideas and improvements that seemed of great importance at the time.

To those fortunate individuals who owned or drove the early day cars and motorcycles, the illustrations and descriptions contained in this scrap book will be of interest.

This is the first edition of several that will be published, each differing from the previous one. Since I was seven years of age I have been closely connected with automobiles and motorcycles and to some extent with airplanes. To me these pages recall the many interesting incidents that occurred during my life. I am sure that others will find this book of interest. While I have accumulated a tremendous amout of old material such as publications, catalogs, photographs, and specifications of early models, I want to thank Wellington Everett Miller for assisting me in compiling much of the data and information contained herein… Floyd Clymer
