Here is an original 1950 print advertisement placed in one of the leading motorcycle magazines of the time advertising Floyd Clymer’s popular motor books. Down in the bottom left corner is shown the book, “Motorcycle Road Racing” for $2.00. The description reads, “Complete story British T.T. Race on Isle of Man. 1907 to date. Many photos world famous riders and motorcycles. Thrilling story world’s most famous race.”

The actual book is now a rarity but I do have one for sale and it is shown below.

1944 1st Edition – Floyd Clymer’s Historical Motor Scrapbook – Rare – Early Cars and Motorcycles Illustrated

1944 1st Edition – Floyd Clymer’s Historical Motor Scrapbook – Rare available at www.DadsVintageAds.com in the “Motorcycle Gifts & Collectibles” category

My Scrapbook by Floyd Clymer

This scrap book of motorcycles and automobiles is dedicated to those who in the early days of the industry pioneered new ideas and improvements that seemed of great importance at the time.

To those fortunate individuals who owned or drove the early day cars and motorcycles, the illustrations and descriptions contained in this scrap book will be of interest.

This is the first edition of several that will be published, each differing from the previous one. Since I was seven years of age I have been closely connected with automobiles and motorcycles and to some extent with airplanes. To me these pages recall the many interesting incidents that occurred during my life. I am sure that others will find this book of interest. While I have accumulated a tremendous amout of old material such as publications, catalogs, photographs, and specifications of early models, I want to thank Wellington Everett Miller for assisting me in compiling much of the data and information contained herein… Floyd Clymer

1962 Matchless G50CS Road Test Impression 2-Page Article by Floyd Clymer

Impressions on road test of the Matchless G50CS

photo captions:

1. Even though the G50 is a high performance bike, Clymer found it throttled down and handled well in turning short circles with feet up.

2. Indian factory district managers, Armand P. Gaudreau and Bob Steiner of Milwaukee, Wis., alongside the G50CS.

3. A rider’s eye view of the G50CS

4. The heart of the G50 is the chain driven, overhead camshaft engine.

5. Frank Kunce, formerly Harley-Davidson dealer and competition rider of Loveland, Colo., now spends his winters in Florida. Frank, who was many times Midwest champion, a Pikes Peak champion and one of the best Midwest half-mile, one mile solo and sidecar riders, and dirt road riders of his day, poses on the Matchless. His only lament is that he didn’t have a performing bike like this one in the days of his fantastic record of competition accomplishments. He might well have been called a Joe Leonard, Ed Kretz, or Carroll Resweber of his day.

6. A view of the “cam side” of the G50CS

7. Here is the lucky dealer who placed his order early enough to take delivery of the Daytona display G50. He is Carl Bagford an exclusive Indian Matchless dealer, of Cedarville, Ohio. With him is Frank Kunce.
